Discussion Group Started on KM specially related to Indian Environment
February 1, 2000 -- Every now and then new management theories arise all over the world. Some get tremendous response and some die a quietly. Knowledge management is one such area that is being discussed very heatedly all around the world. Various multinational IT companies are also talking about this topic and have started talking about it on various platforms. I have been following this for last 3 years and have formed some of my views.
I have no doubt knowledge is key to success in next century. The organisations of the next century cannot be complacent with knowledge concentrated in the hands of few people in the organisation. Such concentration leads to delays in decision-making and response to customer needs.
However, too much knowledge in the entire organisation is also not desirable as it may lead to leaking out business secrets. The skill lies in striking balance between two. Knowledge management is a new challenge before organisation.
To gauge what other companies and professionals are thinking about this topic I am starting a news group under the banner "KM in India". This is the introductory message and I encourage all members to participate and post their views to the list. Please note that we shall restrict discussion to KM and its implication in INDIA and cases in India. Initially, it will be moderated list just to see that we remain on course and do not divert to un-related issues.
So lets get going friends. Do inform your friends and colleagues who are interested and working on these issues in India about this list and encourage them to actively participate.
